Yesterday was our Stake Conference. There was a really good talk that talked about being "an example of the believers" and it focused a lot on our language. While it briefly mentioned swearing, it focused more on our tone and the things we say about others. Are we overly negative? Do we yell frequently (guilty as charged)? Do we gossip?
The speaker asked if others were to meet us for the first time, would they automatically recognize us as disciples of Jesus Christ.
That was just something that really stood out to me in our conference and I have made a goal to do better at speaking kindly this week. With our stake Roadshow coming up this weekend, I could use some prayers! :)
For FHE we will be talking about being examples of the believers. What are you all doing for FHE?

I love that Jen and I agree completely. We should all evaluate how we are doing in this area and try to do a little better. I know that even though I have tried really hard lately I still catch myself sometimes being negative or talking unkindly. I think this is a great goal!!!!!!
For the next little while we will be using the October Friend for FHE. It is packed full of great information that my children can understand. Sometimes the friend has things my kids are not ready for or that they do not need a lesson on right now.
It sounds like your conference was good. It is an interesting question to ask ourselves whether others would recognize that we are disciples of Jesus Christ. That is a difficult question since you never really know how people view you.
